Over 10 per cent of property taxes still unpaid in Fort St. John
Fort St. John has reported more than 10 per cent of property taxes have yet to be paid two weeks after the deadline.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — More than 10 per cent of property taxes in Fort St. John from 2024 have yet to be paid almost two weeks past the deadline.Â
On July 14th, during the regular meeting, the City of Fort St. John council reviewed an update on 2024 property taxes, of which 12.92 per cent has yet to be paid. Â
According to staff, a tax levy of approximately $57.16 million was calculated in property taxes, of which the city acquires $37.34 million.Â
The deadline for payment was July 2nd, and according to the staff report, approximately 87 per cent of total taxes have been collected by the City of Fort St. John.Â
In May, the city’s finance department processed 9,569 notices, which were distributed to property owners with outstanding 2024 taxes to be paid.
Any property owners with unpaid taxes were given a 10 per cent penalty as of July 3rd, and starting January 1st, 2026, accounts still holding outstanding balances will begin to accrue daily interest.Â
Residents can pay their taxes online through My City Hall or their online banking service; in-person at their bank or City Hall; or by mailing a cheque to the City of Fort St. John at 10631 100th Street, V1J 3Z5.Â
