Goodlow wildfire restrictions remain in place as fire continues to be ‘held’

The BC Wildfire Service have made fire suppression progress in the Goodlow wildfire, but restrictions are still in place.

GOODLOW, B.C. — Fire crews are seeing progress in suppression efforts for the Alces River wildfire, but it is still listed as ‘being held.’ 

The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) told Energeticcity.ca on June 13th the Goodlow wildfire saw no growth over the previous night as crews worked to contain the blaze.

“Improved smoke conditions have allowed for both air and ground crews to make good progress towards containment,” said BCWS.

Area restrictions and evacuation alerts are still in place.

According to the BCWS’s last website update on June 12th, 64 firefighters, three helicopters and 10 pieces of heavy equipment were responding to the blaze. 

The service is expected to put out another operations update on June 13th.

BCWS did not indicate if the region’s heavy rainfall conditions could help to fight the blaze. 

The wildfire was first discovered on June 4th and has grown to burn 4,460 hectares.
