PGFC expands area restriction boundaries for Pocket Knife Creek fire
As the Pocket Knife Creek wildfire continues to grow and raise concerns for residents’ health and safety, the Prince George Fire Centre (PGFC) is taking action by expanding its area restriction.

FORT NELSON, B.C. — As the Pocket Knife Creek wildfire continues to grow and raise concerns for residents’ health and safety, the Prince George Fire Centre (PGFC) is taking action.
The PGFC is broadening the boundaries of its earlier area restrictions issued as a result of the blaze.
The new boundaries are as follows:
- Corner 1) 57 04 26.39123 42 37.03
- Corner 2) 57 11 28.91122 18 37.95
- Corner 3) 57 41 46.36122 47 50.54
- Corner 4) 57 40 59.82123 59 06.63
The restrictions were initially issued on May 31st because of the “continued need to protect the public in areas where there are ongoing fire suppression activities and hazardous fire behaviour conditions.”
While the restriction is in effect, it’s illegal to enter that area without written permission, except for the following circumstances:
- People traveling to or from their homes
- Using the highway
- Entering the area as a person acting in an official capacity
- Entering for the purpose of wildfire suppression
- Entering for the purpose of carrying out industrial activity at a regulated oil and gas site
Latest Stories
Violating the area restriction could lead to fines up to $1,150. The restriction will remain in effect until October 15th, unless BCWS decides to lift it early.
