Klenteh Creek wildfire now being held

BCWS has shared a new update on the Klenteh Creek wildfire, saying that it is now being held as of May 16th.

FORT NELSON, B.C. — The Klenteh Creek wildfire is now being held, according to the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).

The blaze — an overwintering fire from a previous year — was first found to have reignited on May 8th. 

After being discovered, the fire burned ‘out of control’ for several days, growing to 38 hectares in size, where it remains as of Friday, May 16th.

Its new classification means BCWS believes it is unlikely to expand further beyond its current boundaries.

Like the other overwintering wildfires in the area, BCWS continues to monitor this blaze with reconnaissance flights via helicopter.
