“The firm failed to keep up-to-date written first aid procedures, to ensure emergency lighting was tested as required and to conduct emergency drills at least once a year,” WorkSafeBC’s website alleges.

“In addition, the firm failed to ensure tools and equipment were capable of safely performing their functions and to ensure regular inspections were made to prevent the development of unsafe working conditions.”

The agency also claims the company’s orientation for new and young workers failed to address required topics, and it didn’t give workers the “information, instruction, training and supervision” needed to ensure their safety.

“These were all repeated violations,” WorkSafeBC claims. “In addition, the firm failed to ensure the health and safety of all workers present at its worksite, a high-risk violation.”

Energeticcity.ca contacted WorkSafeBC for more information regarding the penalty. The agency did not immediately respond.
