Financial agent locally involved in 2021 federal election fined $500
The finance agent for the Liberal candidate in the Prince George, Peace River and Northern Rockies riding in the 2021 federal election has been fined $500.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A financial agent involved in the 2021 federal election in Fort St. John has been fined by the Commissioner of Canada Elections.
The fine was issued against Mohammad Saied Rafieipour-Alavi, the financial agent for Amir Alavi — the Liberal Party of Canada candidate for the Prince George, Peace River and Northern Rockies riding in the 2021 federal election — when Alavi was competing in the “nomination contest” to become the party’s candidate for the region.
According to the penalty summary on the commissioner’s website, after the nomination contest, Rafieipour-Alavi was required to submit documents to the chief electoral officer “outlining the financing and expenses for the nomination campaign.”
The deadline to submit those documents was January 20th, 2022. As of January 8th, 2025, the documents still have yet to be submitted.
Because of Rafieipour-Alavi’s failure to submit the documents, he was fined $500.
