2026 provincial budget consultation hits Fort St. John this summer

A meeting to discuss the 2026 provincial budget is coming to Fort St. John this June. (Legislative Assembly of BC)

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The provincial government is planning a meeting in the North Peace to collect feedback on its 2026 budget.

According to an announcement from the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Service, the government will be holding a meeting gathering input from residents in Fort St. John in June.

The exact date and venue of the meeting have yet to be determined. Applications to speak or present at the consultation are being accepted until next Friday, April 11th.

An opportunity will also be provided for people to submit written feedback on the budget, but details for how to submit that will be revealed closer to the June meeting date.

Other similar meetings are being held in various communities throughout B.C., including Vancouver, Quesnel, Terrace, Cranbrook and more.

This isn’t the first time the Peace region has been included in the budget consultation process: similar consultations were held as recently as 2022 and as far back as 2013.

In order to register, participants will need to create an account on the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia’s website.
