Past winners include Fort St. John’s Garrett Gejdos, who won the championship at the 51st annual invitational in 2023.
As part of the festivities for this year’s championship, a “gold panning parade” is being held on August 1st.
The marshalling time for the parade is reportedly 5:00 p.m. at the District Ice Centre, but further details, such as the route, haven’t been revealed yet.
Vendors and volunteers are also being recruited for all three days of the championship. The district won’t charge vendor or table fees, and staff members say all businesses are welcome.
