Nominations open for by-election in Tumbler Ridge after resignation

The District of Tumbler Ridge has announced the nomination period for a by-election to replace Councillor Ken Klikach in April.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A by-election is on the horizon for Tumbler Ridge over the next few months after a councillor resigned. 

The District of Tumbler Ridge will host a by-election to replace Councillor Ken Klikach, who resigned from his position on the council as of January 20th. 

Candidate application packages were made available at the district’s town hall as of February 10th, and nominations will be open between February 25th to March 7th.

Residents will be able to cast their ballots early on April 2nd and 9th, and general voting day has been scheduled for April 12th. 

Candidates must be nominated by two electors from the district to become a candidate, and must meet all eligibility requirements themselves to run for political office.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old as of general voting day, be a Canadian citizen, be a resident of British Columbia for at least six months prior to filing the nomination package, and not be disqualified from seeking or holding political office under the Local Government Act.
