Four earthquakes in five days hit west of Fort St. John

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. —  Another three earthquakes have been reported near Fort St. John.

According to a Government of Canada website, the most recent was a 4.4. magnitude quake early Wednesday, February 12th at 1:47 a.m., and was 105 kilometres (km) to the west of Fort St. John.

It was felt in the “epicentral region”, according to the website.

Less than two hours before, at 11:52 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11th, an earthquake of 4.2 magnitude was also detected 105 km from the city. 

A third of magnitude 3.1 happened at 5:28 a.m. on February 10th, and was located 76 km from Fort St. John. According to the website, it was “lightly felt in Wonowon” and is “suspected to have been induced”.

These three instances come after an earlier quake was reported on Saturday.  It was a 4.1-magnitude earthquake detected at around 7:29 p.m. local time, on February 8th.

There have been no reports of damage so far, says the website.
