The year 2024 has been another crazy eventful year.

On a local level, BC Hydro flooded the entire Site C reservoir in less than 2 ½ months, and the BC election resulted in a new candidate for a different party winning by a landslide here in the North Peace riding.

Donald Trump won a decisive victory for the White House, democracy is looking shaky, things don’t look good for Ukraine, and trouble continues in the Middle East.  Meanwhile, measures to deal with climate change are advancing but continue to lag what is necessary as climate induced disasters continue to increase around the world.

One thing that we can all agree on is that there are major problems with the world we live in, but it is not surprising that many disagree on what are in fact “the problems”, or what to do about them.   So, no matter what your world view is, it is easy to be depressed.  However, there is much to be thankful for, and being optimistic and positive for one’s mental well-being is important.  Striking a balance between realistically being aware of the state of the world while staying somewhat positive is important.
