Peace River North and South lead Northern BC in voter turnout

On the final day of advance voting for the 2024 Provincial General Election, Peace River North and Peace River South lead Northern B.C. in voter turnout.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – On the final day of advance voting for the 2024 Provincial General Election, Peace River North and Peace River South lead Northern B.C. in voter turnout. 

According to turnout statistics published by Elections BC, 6,121 of 25,600 registered voters have cast their ballots as of October 15th in Peace River North. This means that approximately 23.9 per cent of voters registered in Peace River North have voted ahead of voting day on October 19th.

In Peace River South, 4,265 of 17,656 have voted, with Elections BC reporting an average of 24.1 per cent voter turnout.

Both of these statistics are well over the average for the province, which is 21.9 per cent. According to Elections BC, 778,424 ballots have been cast in advance of voting day of the over 3.5 million registered voters throughout the province. 

Other electoral districts in the North are also reporting high averages of voter turnout. In Bulkley Valley Stikine, approximately 21.9 per cent of registered voters have voted in advance as of October 15th. 

In the Nechako Lakes district, 22.2 per cent of ballots have been cast, and in Skeena, 20.8 per cent of voters have turned out for advance voting.

Prince George-Mackenzie has reported 21.4 per cent, Prince George-North Cariboo 19.3 per cent and Prince George-Valemount has reported the lowest turnout at 16.1 per cent. 

Final numbers for advance voter turnout can be expected following the conclusion of advance voting across the province on October 16th.
