Advanced voter turnout strong in local ridings

Over 3,800 people voted in the first three days of advanced voting in Peace River North and 2,800 in Peace River South.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Over 3,800 people voted in the first three days of advanced voting in Peace River North and 2,800 in Peace River South.

Residents had the opportunity to start voting in the B.C. Election during four days last week. Data from the first three days, October 10, 11, and 12th, show that 3,834 people voted in advanced polls in Peace River North. Data from October 13th is expected to be released on October 15th. In Peace River South, 2,841 voted during the same period.

Advanced voting will continue on Tuesday, October 15, and Wednesday, October 16.

During the last Provincial Election, 5,724 people voted during advanced polls in Peace River North and 3,228 in Peace River South.

Overall, voter turnout in both local ridings was down significantly in 2020, with only 46 percent of eligible voters casting a ballot in Peace River North and 41 percent participating in Peace River South.
