FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The North Peace Forgotten Felines Society announced on Thursday August 29th, that it cannot take in new rescues until further notice.

Tricia Ouellette, the society’s founder and manager, posted on Facebook that the decision was made due to financial difficulties.

“This situation is extremely difficult for us, and puts a lot of pressure on us. To have to say no to a cat that needs help is a decision we never want to take, but sadly we have no other option,” said Ouellette’s post.

The society still receives requests to help cats in need but is unable to accept them until foster homes are found and its expenses for rent, veterinarian clinics, cat food, and more are repaid.

“We have struggled to pay our bills for the past few weeks, coming on months. We cannot cover our cats’ care bills, and I am supplementing them personally just to keep our rescue open,” said Ouellette.

The society is still asking for donations and potential foster homes for their kittens.
