Multiple Wildfires Ignite Near Fort Nelson Along Liard River
Several wildfires have ignited along the Liard River located west of Fort Nelson.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Several wildfires have ignited along the Liard River located west of Fort Nelson.
Ranging in size from 0.009 to around 2 hectares, the fires were discovered during the afternoon of August 20th with distances of 1.5 kilometres east to around 7 kilometres west of the shores of the Liard, which flows northwest from Fort Nelson.
According to the BC Wildfire Service, each fire’s suspected cause is believed to be a lightning strike.
