Concerns regarding staffing and possible closures have circulated in the region in recent months, and some physicians have left the clinic.
By acquiring the clinic, the city intends to protect doctors in the region and their ability to provide primary care services to residents in Dawson Creek.
“We understand the importance of securing healthcare for our community both today and into the future, and this was one way that we could continue to support healthcare needs in our community,” Dawson Creek mayor Darcy Dober said.
Negotiations for the purchase are still underway, and more updates are to come on the acquisition.
