The BC Environmental Assessment Office is seeking public feedback to help determine if an environmental assessment is necessary

Public Comment Period on proposed modification open until June 5, 2024

The BC Environmental Assessment Office is seeking public feedback to help determine if an environmental assessment is necessary

The public is invited to participate in the public comment period on the proposed modifications to the Inga North Gas Plant, an existing natural gas processing plant near Wonowon, approximately 90 kilometres northwest from the city of Fort St. John, B.C.

The proposed modifications to the Inga North Gas Plant do not meet the thresholds to automatically require an environmental assessment; however, because the existing Inga North Gas Plant currently produces more than 125,000 tonnes of greenhouse gasses per year, the proponent, ConocoPhillips Canada is required to notify the Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) of any modifications that will further increase greenhouse gasses emissions. The EAO is currently seeking public feedback to help determine whether an environmental assessment of the modifications should nevertheless be required.

The public comment period closes on June 5, 2024 at 11:59 PM PDT.

Visit: engage.eao.gov.bc.ca/IngaNorth-PN to learn more and provide your feedback.

Feedback is also accepted by post mail: Inga North Gas Plant Modification Project, PO box 9426, Stn Prov Govt, Victoria, B.C. V8W 9V1.

After the public comment period closes, the EAO will prepare a report on its review and feedback received, to inform the decision on whether or not the project should require an environmental assessment.
