The economic development corporation announced Wednesday that it has provided $256,610 from its Recreation Infrastructure program for the project.

“This initiative will see the transformation of the existing walking track into an official 400m running track.”
The project will reportedly require soil excavation, road crush installation, and the pouring of a surface for the running track made of recycled rubber.
It’s meant to allow Rotary Park to host larger events and contribute to the health and wellbeing of outdoor enthusiasts.
The project is one of six initiatives in communities across Northern B.C. receiving funding from Northern Development as part of a $1.29 million investment the corporation approved in late April.
