PRESPATOU, B.C. — Oh my, I can’t believe it’s May already. My oh my, how time does fly. Hello, my name is Jessica Wiebe, and I am the Prespatou 4-H Community Club reporter.

Our club has been really busy these last couple of months, so let me tell you what we have been up to.

At our club meeting we have been discussing different ways of fundraising.

We have set up an account at the FSJ Return It, so if anyone would like to donate, they are welcome to.

We also have a bake sale on May 4. Come check us out at Charlie Lake.

Another topic we have been discussing at the meeting is barn themes.

The last three themes we had to choose from were outlaws, actors and the great outdoors. I won’t tell you which one we picked. However I hope you come and find out on Achievement Day!

The beef members are really busy these days. This is the time when we are “desensitizing” our animals or, as we say it bomb, bomb-proofing our animals.

We are also leading our animals a lot more now that it’s warmer. We had our last beef weigh-in on March 16. All three steers gained a good amount of weight, and we are really happy with how things are going. Our next weigh-in will be in the next month or so.

Our sheep members got their sheep on March 30. The North Peace District held an all clubs weigh-in, which went really well. All of our animals were heavy enough so they could be used for our projects. The sheep members are currently working on getting their sheep tame and leading them as much as possible.

This year, we added swine to our club, which is really exciting. The Prespatou club has never had a swine club before, so we are really excited to learn with the swine member. From what I have been told, the pig is doing really well. The member said that his pig was getting tamer, and he will be working on training it in the next couple of months.

Our dog members are working hard on the unit for their dogs! Both are doing well!

And that’s all folks. Have a great rest of May, and we can’t wait to see you in our next article!!
