Fire Chief Marcel Capelle says the fire department is currently unaware of the individual’s condition.

“All I know is that he was flown to Edmonton,” said Capelle.

According to Capelle, at approximately 6:50 p.m. on March 23rd, the fire department received a report of a residential structure fire on 8th Street and 95th Avenue.

When crews arrived at the scene, they called for support from additional firefighters and apparatus due to a large amount of smoke coming from the roof vents of the home.

Capelle says with the help of 16 firefighters and three apparatus, crews were able to extinguish the blaze within an hour and 45 minutes.

“We left the scene at 8:30 p.m.,” said Capelle.

“The guys did a good job, and they contained [the fire] to the area of origin.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
