Red Dragon BJJ has successful run at True North Grappling Spring Open
The Red Dragon team competed in the True North Grappling Spring Open in St. Albert earlier this month.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fort St. John’s Red Dragon BJJ team had a successful run at the True North Grappling Spring Open in St. Albert, Alberta, earlier this month.
On March 16th, Red Dragon sent a squad of 35 athletes to compete in the tournament, which featured approximately 1,200 participants.
Red Dragon’s final totals were an impressive haul of 24 gold medals, 18 silver and 18 bronze overall.

That total was enough to push Red Dragon to first place in the tournament for youth and second place overall in the adult category.
As always, there’s no time for rest, as the team has to “get back to work,” according to head coach Ben Marsh.
“We are beyond proud of this team,” said Marsh. “We put in a lot of preparation and training for this tournament.”
“There were a lot of other great teams, and they put our students on their toes.”

Founded in 1987, Red Dragon BJJ offers classes in several martial arts, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Taekwondo.
