Nominations are open for the Order of British Columbia and the Medal of Good Citizenship.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Nominations are open for the Order of British Columbia and the Medal of Good Citizenship.
According to the Honours and Awards Secretariat, the Order of British Columbia celebrates achievement, excellence or distinction that has benefited the province or beyond.
Both former and current residents of the province are eligible for nomination.

The Medal of Good Citizenship recognizes those who have contributed significantly to their communities without seeking compensation.
The medal recognizes acts of selflessness, generosity and contributions to their community.
In 2020, Rolla resident Donna Kane received the medal for her work as the executive director of the Peace-Liard Regional Arts Council, now known as Arts North East.

Latest Stories
Larry White from Tumbler Ridge was given the medal in 2017 for his volunteer hours in civic, cultural, historical, outdoor and youth organizations.

Any current or former long-term resident of B.C. can be nominated, including children, youth, individuals, groups and organizations. Posthumous nominations are also accepted.
Self-nominations and nominations of federal, provincial or municipal elected representatives are not accepted.
Nominations must be submitted by April 5th, 2024, for consideration this year.
