UPDATE: Power has been restored in Fort St. John

Over 4,200 customers are without power in Fort St. John. The outage started just after 6 p.m. Wednesday.

UPDATE (8 p.m.): Power has been restored. It is believed that the outage occurred after a tree hit a powerline.

UPDATE (7:30 p.m.): Hydro says a crew has arrived to fix the outage. The crew is currently patrolling the line to determine the cause. Hydro has not released an estimate on when power will be restored.

The outage started just after 6 p.m. Wednesday and covered an area west of 78th Street, north of 79th Avenue, east of 108th Street and south of 115 Avenue.

The cause of the outage is currently under investigation and B.C. Hydro has not set a time for when power will be restored.

A Hydro crew has been assigned to restore the outage.
