FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Western Hockey League (WHL) is inviting young, local hockey players to attend its development combine at the Pomeroy Sport Centre from March 8th to 10th.

The WHL Development Combine will provide a development and exposure opportunity to high-level hockey players born between 2007 and 2012. The league says its event is designed to assist players with technical assessment of speed, power and agility while furthering development in those areas.

The combine is an evaluation platform where players undergo standardized testing to gauge their performance.

According to the WHL, on-ice assessments target crucial skills necessary for elite-level hockey, allowing players to benchmark their results, pinpoint weaknesses, and aspire to reach peak performance.

Participants will be able to use their results to pinpoint areas of improvement and target their on-ice and off-ice development needs.

The combine includes on-ice and off-ice testing sessions, in which players’ results will be sent to all WHL teams. On-ice development sessions focused on speed, power, movement, agility, decision-making, execution and hockey IQ, compete level and gameplay are also included, along with seminars focused on the WHL and combine-specific information.
