DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Dawson Creek’s Alaska Highway sign has been taken down to receive a facelift ahead of the tourist season in the spring.
The City of Dawson Creek says the original sign was made of plywood, and they wanted something that would withstand wear and tear a bit better while maintaining its historical integrity.
The sign will look the same but with a “fresh face.”

The cairn below the sign will remain, while the sign and metal structure were taken down for repairs.
According to the city, the sign will likely return in April 2024, which should align with the tourist season.
