Inconnu Swim Club makes splash at Fast Track competition in November

The Fort St. John Inconnu Swim Club travelled to Grande Prairie last month to compete in the Fast Track competition from November 17th to 19th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John Inconnu Swim Club travelled to Grande Prairie last month to compete in the Fast Track competition from November 17th to 19th. 

Head coach Carmen Escobar says 35 Inconnu athletes participated in the competition, where they “made an impressive splash.”

“During this event, our swimmers achieved an outstanding 95 per cent personal best rate, showcasing their hard work and commitment to improvement,” said Escobar.

“Notably, many of our swimmers secured top-eight placements in nearly every event, highlighting the exceptional talent within our club.”

Escobar added that several Inconnu swimmers have qualified for higher-level competitions as well. 

Ryder Modde, Kieran Rogers, Ridley Chisholm, Aisnley Ross, Quinn McCue, and Sienna Thorburn each met “rigorous” provincial standards set out by Alberta, earning spots at Edmonton JP Fiset. The invitational swim meet takes place from December 14th to 17th.

Along with the athletes listed above, Brice Bellamy, Leo Rossi, Elias Stirling, and Lane Stahl have qualified for the Divisional Championships next February.

Recent graduate of BCIT’s Broadcast and Online Journalism program, born and raised in Vancouver, Jordan’s passion for broadcast and journalism began with her dream of becoming a hockey journalist and play-by-play commentator.

During her schooling, Jordan discovered a deep passion for reporting on Indigenous issues, culture and affairs. Jordan is also passionate about connecting with and listening to stories from people from different walks of life and cultural backgrounds.

Last Spring, Jordan completed her first season providing play-by-play for Trinity Western University Women’s Hockey and gameday hosting for BCHL Coquitlam Express.

Jordan enjoys radio anchoring, creating and editing video content, and hopes to one day pursue a career in investigative journalism as well as producing documentaries.
