UPDATE: RCMP investigating fatal head-on collision near Charlie Lake

A woman died Saturday morning after her pickup truck was involved in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on Highway 97 near Charlie Lake.

CHARLIE LAKE, B.C. — A woman died Saturday morning after her pickup truck was involved in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on Highway 97 near Charlie Lake.

Corporal Madonna Saunderson with the North District RCMP said the Ford Ranger pickup was headed north when it crossed over into the opposite lane of traffic and collided with the semi.

The female was the only occupant of the pickup truck, and the driver of the semi was uninjured.

Saunderson said nothing criminal was suspected, and an investigation is underway into what caused the accident, along with other factors.

The vehicles were towed, and the road was cleared the same day.
