Hair Bin fundraises $2,000 for recovering surgery patient
The Hair Bin salon has donated over $2,000 to Misti Collinson, a recovering PCOS patient in Fort St. John.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Hair Bin Salon and Barbershop donated over $2,000 to Misti Collinson, a local woman who spent over seven months in hospital due to severe complications that reportedly arose from surgery.
In 2018 and 2019, Misti Collinson underwent two surgeries after being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, which caused cysts to form on her ovaries.
After her second surgery, Collinson started experiencing complications of cellulitis and an infection.

Since then, Collinson has suffered from many side effects, such as chronic pain, brain damage, and a brief clinical death after sepsis attacked various organs in her abdomen.
The generous donation from the Hair Bin was given to Collinson on September 20th and will go towards Collinson’s recovery and making her home accessible to accommodate her needs.
Throughout the three days of the fundraiser, the Hair Bin also donated $1 per service to Collinson as part of the charity.
Hair Bin staff member Alida Newhook says salon owner Lorraine Isenbecker “has a really big heart.”

“She’s one to always give back to the community. It’s incredible how giving she is. She just really felt for Misti and what she and her family was going through,” said Newhook.
Newhook mentioned Collinson is “doing okay, as good as she can be.”
Energeticcity.ca was unable to get in contact with Collinson to find out the current status of her recovery.
In July 2023, Cassandra Dumont created a GoFundMe page for Collinson that raised over $2,000.
Shortly after the campaign ended, Collinson claimed Dumont had run off with the money. A new campaign was started on Chuffed which has raised $4,663 so far.
