FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Local boxer Nick Young returned to Fort St. John to headline the main event at last weekend’s Fivestar Fight League, winning by unanimous decision.

After training at Fivestar Boxing Academy for ten years, Young made the career choice to move to Vancouver Island last summer to develop his skill at Le Stage Boxing.

In Saturday night’s boxing match against Jose Gonzalo Otoya of Southpaw Boxing, Young entered the ring and dominated the match, winning every round and bringing the entire crowd to their feet.

Young’s former coach Justin Donally, owner of Fivestar Boxing Academy, says Young’s match was “some of the best boxing he’s seen at that level.”

“He showed up back home after a few months and looked like a true professional,” said Donally.

“He was completely calm in there, he boxed beautifully. I’m really proud of him.”

Young, who aspires to one day compete in boxing at the world championship level, says last Saturday’s win in front of his hometown crowd was an unforgettable experience.

“There’s nothing like it,” said Young.

“It was nice to come back home and have the support of everyone here.”

Young wasn’t the only local boxer to find victory at last weekend’s boxing event.

Fivestar Boxing Academy products Mason Tetreault, Mike Voulgaris, Mark Schaefer, and Lane Harris each came out of the ring with a win as well.
