DAWSON CREEK, B.C. —  BC Highway Patrol recently handed out a $483 fine to a new driver travelling 169 kilometres per hour in a posted 100 kilometres per hour speed zone.

Officers caught three vehicles, including the new driver, speeding on highways near Dawson Creek and Fort St. John on Sunday.

“The posted speed limits serve as a reminder to the public to slow down and that exceeding these posted speed limits puts themselves and others at risk,” said BC Highway Patrol Officer Constable Matthew MacCallum.
