FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – After a year of virtual events and a year of no events at all, the Northern Dance Theatre Society is holding a gala to celebrate its dancers.

The event will be held at the North Peace Cultural Centre on May 19th, starting at 7 p.m., and tickets are available for $20.

Christine Taylor, president of the society board, says they’re hoping to turn it into a whole event, with refreshments and a silent auction.

“We really want it to become an evening that we all celebrate everybody together, and we want the community to come in and see what our kids have done. We have some amazing dancers in our community,” Taylor said.

The dancers will be performing all of their competitive routines, Taylor says.

“Our competitive team that goes out and they will perform all their numbers that night. So it’s a really great show.”

She mentions how the virtual events were a little crazy last year.

“It was really nice to get back on stage. The kids have been doing competitions virtually all last year. And the year before that, obviously, we didn’t get to dance.”

“We would love to see the community come out and support our dancers.”

Also, next week, Alchemy Dance Collective is holding its Team Showcase at the Cultural Centre on May 16th.
