City introduces $2k Diversity and Inclusion Micro-Grant program

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The City of Fort St. John has announced a new micro-grant for projects focusing on diversity and inclusion.

This Diversity and Inclusion Micro-Grant program will provide approved organizations up to $2,000 for new or unique projects that celebrate equity and inclusion, cultural diversity and improving relationships between the Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.

The program is open to registered non-profit societies, non-profit co-operative organizations, community museums or libraries.

Indigenous, newcomer, immigrant or ethnocultural community organizations are also encouraged to apply by the City.

“We are excited to work with local community-based groups and organizations to pursue opportunities through showcase events, programs and activities that will celebrate cultural diversity, Truth and Reconciliation, equity, and inclusion,” stated Eryn Griffith, Arts and Culture Manager for the City of Fort St. John.

“These events will help increase community pride and encourage community interaction, conversation, collaboration and spirit.”

Applications are now open and close on Friday, May 20th at 4:30 p.m., and projects must be completed by December 31st, 2022.

Grant recipients will be announced in early June.

The grant was made available due to funding from the province.
