WestJet increases Fort St. John to Vancouver flights for upcoming winter season

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – WestJet has announced that they will be adding more flights for the community of Fort St. John come the winter season.

Lauren Stewart with WestJet says that the company is bringing another flight to the Energetic City, specifically during the weekdays.

“We’ve increased service to Fort St. John from Vancouver by 5 flights this winter. It is basically an additional flight on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.”

Stewart says that the flights will be early morning departures out of Fort St. John (5:10 a.m. or 6:10 a.m.) and a late night return (10:30 p.m. departure from Vancouver).

“What this does is actually increase the connectivity the community has to all of our sun destinations out of Vancouver this winter. That is looking like Mexico, California, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Hawaii. It really makes it easy for the community to get in early and connect in a very easy manner.

It’s also great for any business travellers because they are going to get in early, have the opportunity to have a full day of meetings and then also return home that night.”

WestJet currently does 7 flights weekly from Fort St. John to Vancouver and now will be doing 12.

“We watch where there is need. We saw that the community could support this additional flight and we like to make it easy for communities to get where they need to go.”

Stewart says that after the winter season, they will evaluate how the additional flight fared and may choose to either keep the flight or pull it.
