Dog bylaw update on its way to approval
TAYLOR, B.C. — It still has to be approved at their next regular meeting in May, but the District of Taylor read through and reviewed the proposed changes to the Dog control, licensing and ticketing bylaw.
Mayor Rob Fraser said some questions were asked about the number of dogs the bylaw changes call for — which is four in one dwelling.
“It was felt that, with two adults in a house, that each adult could handle two dogs. Most people, that we’re aware of, have two dogs in the household,” he said.
He explained that, if a neighbour were to look after a resident’s dogs while they are away, this would allow them to not need to acquire a kennel license.
“There’s not a lot of people who have four dogs,” Fraser added. “Most people have one or two, very seldom do we see three, but there are some people who have three.”
The District’s next meeting will be on Monday, May 2, 2016.
