TERRACE, B.C. – Last year in Fort Nelson the final of the Coy Cup pitted the Fort St. John Flyers and the Terrace River Kings against one another, and now the clubs will do it all again. The Flyers booked their spot in the final after a 7-3 win tonight over the Whitehorse Huskies in the semifinals.

Despite falling behind early in the contest the Flyers responded with two goals to lead after the opening 20 minutes. Early in the second the Huskies would tie the game only to have the Flyers score twice shortly after to lead 4-2.

In the third Fort St. John wasted little time building on their advantage as they’d go up by three. Whitehorse closed the gap on the power play to make things interesting, but the Flyers would not allow them to get any closer. Two late goals down the stretch rounded out the scoring.

Scoring for the Flyers were Rick Cleaver, Jeff Shipton, Brady Busche, Adam Horst (2), Josh Bruha, and Ryan Carter.

The finals between Fort St. John and Terrace will get underway tomorrow at 7 p.m.
