MP Bob Zimmer adds new title to portfolio
OTTAWA, O.N. — Prince George – Peace River – Northern Rockies MP Bob Zimmer has announced that he has been elected Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities.
With the title Vice-Chair, Zimmer ‘s duties include acting as chair in meetings when necessary, and support the Chair of the committee.
“I am honoured to have been elected Vice-Chair of this important committee,” he said. “I look forward to examining the issues that touch the lives of all Canadians and to continue to provide a voice of reason for Canadian taxpayers.”
New Democrat MP of Churchill, M.B., Niki Ashton shares the title of Vice-Chair, and Liberal MP Bryan May of Cambridge is the Chair of the Standing Committee. Zimmer congratulated both on their appointments.
The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities studies employment, labour, income security, skills development and disability issues, as well as programs administered by Employment and Social Development Canada. The Committee also administers the Centennial Flame Research Award.
This announcement comes after Zimmer was previously announced to be Deputy Critic for Families, Children and Social Development, Chair of the BC/Yukon Conservative Caucus. He is also the Chair of the National Prayer Breakfast, and Co-Chair of the All-Party Outdoors Caucus.
