Charges laid in both B.C. and Alberta for escaped convict, accomplices
PEACE RIVER, A.B. — Following the arrest of three people near Fort Nelson last week, including escaped prisoner Harvey John Lay, charges in accordance to the jurisdictions of the two provinces have been laid.
In B.C., 29-year-old Lay faces charges for failing to stop a vehicle while being pursued by police, and for the thefts related to the stolen 2014 Dodge Ram truck and Dodge Caravan.
19-year-old Lenny Grant Tecomba faces a charge for both failing to stop while evading the police, and for the theft of the Dodge truck. 38-year-old Laurie Slobozian has been charged in relation to theft of the Dodge Caravan.
Across the Provincial border, Lay has been charged for escaping custody.
Tecomba was charged for assisting in the escape of custody, assaulting an officer with a firearm, committing the offence while asked, using an imitation firearm while committing an indictable offence, and failing to comply with a probation order.
Slobozian has also been charged for assisting in the escape.
Peace River RCMP says the investigation is ongoing, and Edmonton GIS has joined in to assist in the Peace River and Fort Nelson investigations.
