Snowfall warning continues for the B.C. Peace

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A snowfall warning continues for the B.C. Peace.  The forecast says the region could see another 5 to 10 cm of snow by Tuesday evening.

Environment Canada predicted the storm that moved into the area Monday evening would bring anywhere from 10 to 20 cm of snow.  With higher accumulation near the Rocky Mountains.  The Fort St. John Airport reports it received 17 cm of snow on Monday.

The spring storm has caused both School District 59 and 60 to cancel school buses for the day (Tuesday, April 19, 2022).

Heavy snow continues in B.C. Peace River.

When: Now through this evening.

Snow Accumulations: An additional 5 to 10 cm.

Remarks: A weather system moving across BC is giving heavy snow in B.C. Peace River region. The highest snow accumulations will be near the Rockies. An additional 5 to 10 cm of snow is expected today before the heavy snow eases to periods of light snow this evening.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
