FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Northern Environmental Action Team’s Annual Pumpkin Plunge is taking place this Saturday, November 7.

Happening from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Fort St. John Home Hardware parking lot, NEAT Executive Director Karen Mason-Bennett says this event is a fun way to dispose of the leftover Halloween pumpkins.

According to Mason-Bennett, all pumpkins will be taken up on a scissor lift and dropped to the ground for a pumpkin-smashing good time.

Afterward, the pumpkins will be donated to local farmers for livestock feed or compost.

Usually, this event also features soup stock but due to the COVID-19, no soup will be offered.

Along with pumpkin dropping, the City of Fort St. John will be there with their final yard waste collection of the season.

Further information can be found on NEAT’s Facebook page.
