FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Following an increase in COVID-19 cases in some areas of the province, the B.C. Teachers’ Federation is calling on the Government to limit class sizes.

In a letter sent to Premier John Horgan, BCTF President Teri Mooring is pressuring the Province to limit class sizes to 15 students in regions that have been hit the hardest by the pandemic, particularly in the Fraser Health Region.

The decision for the limit is to ensure physical distancing can be maintained in order to help protect teachers and students.

According to Peace River North Teachers’ Association President Michele Wiebe, while class sizes are looking to be reduced in that region, locally, no decisions have been made so far to follow suit.

Wiebe says teachers and School District 60 are continuing to work together to help keep everyone safe.
