KITIMAT, B.C. – Northern Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the LNG Canada Project Site located in Kitimat.
The prime contractor at this site is JGC Fluor and to date 14 employees have tested positive for COVID-19. These cases are associated with the outbreak and occurred in the same general location.
According to Northern Health, specific on-site employees are being screened and contact tracing has been happening and will continue. Any identified cases and close contacts have been instructed to self-isolate, 32 employees are in isolation at the site.
Northern Health, LNG Canada and JFC Fluor have been working on planning, preparing and implementing COVID-19 measures since the spring and will continue to work closing to ensure measures are being followed to protect staff.
The outbreak declaration will be in place for at least 28 days and Northern Health is working with the B.C. CDC to make sure the proper health authorities are contacted.
