HALIFAX — Two people accused of plotting to open fire in a Halifax shopping mall have been brought to court.

Twenty-three-year-old Lindsay Kantha Souvannarath of Geneva, Ill., and 20-year-old Randall Steven Shepherd of Halifax are charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

A third suspect was found dead by police last Friday morning at a home in Timberlea, N.S., but the name of the 19-year-old man has not been released.

The RCMP announced the charges on Saturday, the same day police allege the Valentine’s Day attack on the Halifax Shopping Centre was planned.

Police in Geneva, Ill., say they will be talking to the RCMP and Halifax police today about items seized during a search of Souvannarath’s home on Friday.

Julie Nash, commander of patrol operations, says she expects investigators to discuss the nature of items collected and whether any of them will be shipped to police in Nova Scotia.
