Hours away from the official 2014 Municipal Election voting day

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Here in Fort St. John, with Mayor Lori Ackerman already re-elected by acclamation, the focus is on a 12 candidate race for six seats on City Council, as well as a five candidate race, for the three zone five trustee positions, on the District 60 School Board.

The final advance poll numbers show the lack of a local mayoralty race may yet play a negative roll in the voter turn out.

The total number of votes registered in two days of advance polling was 540, only about 81 per cent of the 665 total in the last election in 2011.

The local polling station at the Pomeroy Sport Center will be open until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow night, and there will also be another special voting opportunity for patients and staff at the Fort St. John hospital 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Eligible voters who may not have already registered can still vote tomorrow, but proof of identification will be needed to register at the time you choose to do so. Two pieces of identification will be required – one indicating who the individual is and his or her address – and the second piece carrying his or her signature.

Northeast region voting results will be posted on energeticcity-beta.mystagingwebsite.com beginning with the close of the polls at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow night.
