That's equivalent to 3.4-billion cubic feet per day, which equals a a quarter of Canada’s entire output last year.
Spokesman David Williams says they intend to build their first terminal to half of the requested capacity, with the option to expand the project to a total of four units or 24 million tonnes.
Shell has partnered with Korea Gas Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation. and PetroChina on an export terminal slated for Kitimat, and is asking for a 25 year approval period.
