4-H Club hands out awards over weekend

The weekend began with the 4-H club weighing the animals competing in the beef achievement competitions.

Peter Weitzel of the Wonowon Club had the steer with the highest rate of gain.

Friday Morning was the Female and Steer Confirmation Classes, where Marie Weitzel of the Wonowon Club won Grand Champion Female and Mikayla Feel of the Green Valley Club won Reserve Champion Female.

Friday afternoon was the Grooming and Showmanship competitions, where Blake Simpson of the Wonowon Club took home the honour of Overall Showman.

It was a good showing for the Wonowon Club, as club member Malcom Clarence, was the Overall Groomer.

Marie Weitzel also won Grand Champion Steer, while Blake Simpson won Reserve Champion Steer.

Following Friday’s awards ceremony, Saturday saw 53 sales of steers.
