"When the school was shut down, (the gym) went away," says church member Andy Ackerman. "So now it's back. I think people who go to it will recognize it as very similar to the old Immaculata School hall."

The Catholic church has spent $3 million on the new hall, that is set for its grand opening this Sunday, April 15 at 12 p.m. It's equipped with everything from a new kitchen, and will be available for functions as well as to be rented to the public for events such as weddings. In addition, major renovations have been done to the church while it's been closed.

Members of the public are invited to join the church at the official opening Sunday at noon, located at 9504-100 Avenue.
