ARC Resources donates to Dawson Creek Hospital Foundation
Darryl Ireland, representative for the Calgary-based oil and gas company, presented Jerimy Earl, communications and events coordinator for the Hospital Foundation, with a cheque for $10,000 that afternoon. Earl said it is at least the second year in a row that someone from the company has dropped into his office to make a donation around Christmas-time.
He said his board of directors has yet to decide what project that money will go towards, but the Foundation does have two ongoing fundraising campaigns. The first, the “Extreme Maternity Makeover” campaign is an effort to completely renovate and refurbish the hospital’s second-floor maternity ward, while the second, the “Lights for Life 2011: Health for the Holidays” campaign is an effort to raise money for two vital pieces of equipment for the emergency ward. The first piece of equipment is a paediatric ultrasound abdominal probe that is used to diagnose abnormalities in various internal organs of a child and can also be used for imaging during emergency procedures, and the second piece is a carbon dioxide monitor used to collect detailed respiratory measurements during critical stages of care.
For more information on these campaigns and how to get involved, Jerimy Earl can be reached at 250-784-7355 or dcdhfoundation@northernhealth.ca. Â
