Small fire spots discovered in Camarlo Park
A report of a small fire led residents to discover at least a dozen other fire sites set in Camarlo Park.
On Wednesday, firefighters received a call about a small fire under a resident’s porch, beside the park. Fire Chief Fred Burrows says the other fires were located in several different spots in the bush. He says they were all the size of dinner plates, but had already burned themselves out.
Despite believing they were probably all set on the same day, Burrows says many of the fires were not even smouldering by the time they were found.
He says the recent rainy weather probably helped put the fires out very quickly since everything is wet and green. He also says if the weather had not been so wet, the situation could have been very different.
