Bud Smith hired for Ridley Terminals

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The federal government has tabbed former Social Credit cabinet minister Bud Smith, to head money-losing Crown corporation, Ridley Terminals.

Mr. Smith takes over the Prince Rupert operation, from Daniel Veniez, who was fired last Friday.

He was let go, after he argued in favor of privatizing Ridley and suggested the terminal’s operating strategy was being undermined, by demands from BC interior coal producers and Tory MP’s.

Arguably his primary political target was Prince Geroge/Peace River MP and government House leader Jay Hill…and he now says he has every confidence in Mr.Smith, who shares the government’s vision for the bulk-handling facility.
