Fort St. John Huskies announce new player signings

The Fort St. John Huskies announced the signings of a pair of defencemen ahead of next month’s training camp.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John Huskies have made some moves to shore up their blue line ahead of this season’s training camp.

Last season’s Strike Group North West Junior Hockey League (NWJHL) runners-up announced the signings of defencemen Norman Lacquette and Jonas Letourneau on the team’s Instagram page on July 16.

In announcing the addition of both players, the Huskies acknowledged the success of each in their previous stops in the 2025-26 season.

A native of Mallard, Man., the 19-year-old Lacquette is also an avid fastball player and competed in the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, N.L.

Last season, Lacquette appeared in 29 games for the Prairie Junior Hockey League’s (PJHL) Moosomin Steelhawks, scoring six goals and adding eight assists for 14 points. He also registered 79 penalty minutes.

The Huskies praised Lacquette as a “dedicated competitor with a strong work ethic,” who is “ready to bring his experience and leadership” to Fort St. John.

Meanwhile, the 17-year-old Letourneau already has roots in Fort St. John, as his father was raised in the city.

Letourneau has played in the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL) for the past two seasons with teams based in Edmonton.

Last season, Letourneau appeared in 27 games for the KC Colts U-18 AA team, scoring four goals with seven assists for 11 points.

Letourneau was described as a “smooth skater with an excellent hockey I.Q.” in an Instagram post welcoming him to the squad.

The Fort St. John Huskies begin training camp on Aug. 21 at the Pomeroy Sport Centre.
